Intruduction of Oceania
Oceania is a geographical and often geopolitical region consisting of numerous lands—mostlyislands in the Pacific Ocean and surrounding area. The term "Oceania" was coined in 1831 by French explorer Dumont d'Urville. The boundaries of Oceania are defined in a number of ways. Most definitions include Australia, New Zealand andall or part of the Malay Archipelago. Ethnologically, the islands that are included in Oceania are divided into the sub regions of Melanesia, Micronesia,and Polynesia. It is home to glistening white beaches, coconut palms swaying in the breeze, beautiful coral reefs, and rugged volcanic islands rising out of the blue ocean.

The continent or region of Oceania has various definitions - with interpretations including Australia, New Zealand, New Guinea, East Timor and parts of Indonesia. The name Oceania is used because it is the ocean and adjacent seas rather than a continent that link the lands together.
